Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey (PCA-NJ)

Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey (PCA-NJ) promotes family wellness, positive parenting, healthy child development and nurturing communities. Founded in 1979, all our efforts throughout the state are dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect in all forms for all New Jersey children. We envision a world where every child has a happy, healthy and safe childhood - free of abuse and neglect.

Annually, our programs reach 70000 children and families via:

  • Healthy Families America and Parents as Teachers home visiting services to ensure babies are healthy and nurtured right from the start.
  • Education to teach parents about healthy child development and positive, healthy ways to discipline.
  • Facilitating parental involvement in children's education and learning so that families and schools work together to help children realize their full academic success.
  • Working in preschools, child care centers, schools and school districts to educate teachers and parents about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and building resilience in children; helping schools become trauma-sensitive environments.
  • Providing training and technical assistance to professionals who work with children and families statewide.
  • Organizing community awareness events that keep community members informed and educated.
